What's better than having an ice cream on a hot summer day or during the cold winter days in Tokyo? Having not one but 8 flavours all in a single cone!
A short walk from the Nakano station, Nakano Broadway - a four-story shopping complex offers a wide selection of Japanese pop culture - ranging from anime figurines, video games to collectibles and souvenirs.
Daily Chico is located at the basement of Nakano Broadway shopping mall which serves up oversized Tokudai soft serves. Go big or go home, opt for the mega-sized extra large cone with 8 flavours.
We visited Daily Chico during the winter season and it was enjoyable to have ice cream on a cold day. Loved the pastel colours of the megacone. The 8-flavoured cone was affordable and value for money. (490 yen).
We read online that the store changes its ice cream flavours regularly, and that the owners pipe the flavours in different sequences, so your 'rainbow' cone may look different from others. The flavours we had that day were chocolate, soda, strawberry, coffee, sesame, green tea, banana and vanilla.
You can enjoy the ice cream in its individual layers which tasted quite distinct, or use the plastic spoon and try the different flavours in a single mouth. The flavours complemented well! Loved the smoothness and creaminess of the soft serve.
Just look at how pretty the massive soft serve is. Do be careful not to topple it and consume it quickly after snapping a few photos as the store will not refund any dropped cones. Daily Chico is a small store without any seats so you will have to consume it outside its shopfront.
Just a short train ride away from Shinjuku station, Daily Chico is a short walk from the Nakano station. Do add this place in your itinerary if you are looking to satisfy your cravings for Japanese soft serves with a variety of flavours. You will not be disappointed!
