Best Cafes in Bali - Guide to Cafes You Need to Visit in Bali

Serving breakfast, lunch and everything in between, Bali's eclectic cafe scene offers an inventive and impressive list of places to dine at. Touted as a clean-eating heaven where organic and wholesome food is chic in Bali, you can find healthy food which is pretty and trendy. Take your pick from their menu offering typical cafe food with a not so typical twist. Check out the list of cafes I've been to in Bali:

1. Kynd Community - Seminyak

This plant based cafe was located near our villa. It was also one of the fewer cafes in the area that's open at 6am for the early risers everyday.

Featuring pretty wall art and a rattan swing indoors, you can find Insta-happy guests snapping away. Loved everything from the marbled tabletops to the polished concrete floors. The light-filled cafe is dominated by its open layout.

The Kynd Community prides itself on good looking vegetarian food and features an extensive menu of breakfast options, smoothies and juices and salads in the morning. We had the Berry Tropical Fruit Bowl, Breaky Salad (spinach, rocket, sundried tomatoes, broccoli, roasted pumpkin, garlic mushrooms, vegan chorizo with sunny mustard dressing and pesto aioli sourdough), Avo on Toast and a Nutella Berry Toast. In this all-day bar-cafe, we returned in the evening for their free cocktails which were ethereal.

The plates are visual masterpieces, almost too pretty to eat: lots of brightly coloured fruits sitting atop the toasts and fruit bowls and flower petals in the cocktails. The best part is you are able to customize your own smoothie bowls with fruit cut-outs (a total of 8 alphabets). The three of us hoped that we are able to travel lots in the coming year and go to places that we've never been to before. So we had LET'S GO on our bowl, heh.

Kynd's staff were super friendly and you really do feel a 'kind' spirit inside of you as you tuck into your meat free options. It is refreshing to see their menu packed filled with nourishing options using the freshest ingredients.

Do note that the seats at the famous pink walls are only for 2 pax, and if you have bigger groups you will have to sit elsewhere. But fret not as the staff are kind enough to let you take photos of your orders against the walls.

2. The Fat Turtle - Seminyak

Follow the turtle signboard and wall murals and you'll know you have arrived at The Fat Turtle cafe located on the Petitenget streets.

The Fat Turtle serves up flavour packed and affordable brunch items featuring favourites such as toasts, croissants, waffles and pancakes. Pick your seat outdoors with the lush greenery and bask in the tropical sun of Bali or be seated indoors on the plush cushions under the industrial lighting.

We ordered the smashed avocados with egg benedict - the eggs were perfect, avocados nicely seasoned and the toast delightfully warm and crusty. The pancakes came with a unique combination of crunchy granola, sweet dragon fruits (which they call Pitaya in Bali), a nice contrast to the cold mango sorbet and warm sour cream.

Kickstart a wonderful day in Seminyak by having a laidback brunch. The Fat Turtle is inviting and friendly.

3. Cafe Organic - Seminyak

Clean eating and endless healthy options are listed on Cafe Organic's menu. The warm hues of its interiors is warm and inviting, putting one instantly in a holiday mood with its rattan furnishing, knitted cushions, palm tree spoons and cute little wooden things.

Take your pick from its comprehensive menu of salads, fresh juices, nut mylks, smoothies and acai bowls. We had a tough time picking a smoothie bowl and ended up with the Bondi Bowl which was a blend of bananas, blueberries, mango cubes, goji berries and a sprinkle of coconut flakes. It was a tad too sweet, probably because of the amount of bananas that went into the bowl.

Cafe Organic is a vegetarian only cafe that offers healthy options using fresh, locally farmed produce. Cheers to good health, one smoothie bowl at a time.

4. Baby Revolver - Seminyak

Tucked along an uneven pavement of Petitenget with its low-key entrance, it is easy to miss the Baby Revolver cafe. But once you step inside, you're in for some of the best coffee in Bali.

Serving Australian-style coffee, the Baby Revolver is said to use some of the best beans in the world blended in Bali. The latte was smooth and robust with a smokey flavour. Spend a chill moment in its cute cozy interiors and watch the world go by in the busy streets outside or opt for a takeaway.

Watch the coffee artisans put a touch of magic into your cup of coffee and sip away. Even the fussiest coffee aficionados will give a nod to the coffee served at Revolver.

5. Sisterfields - Seminyak

Consistently rated among Bali's best place for brunch since its opening, Sisterfields is an early groundbreaker revolutionizing the cafe scene in Bali. She is iconic for bringing the cafe culture of Australia to the heart of Seminyak.

Casual yet sophisticated, Sisterfields brings the relaxed cafe ‘brunch’ experience that Australians know and love. A buzzing casual cafe in Bali for expats living abroad, holiday makers and Balinese locals alike, Sisterfields is a great spot to simply catch up and indulge in its all-day brunch menu alongside a wide range of coffees, cakes and pastries.

The tables are drenched in natural sunlight making them perfect for your food shots. We had the Shakshuka Style Poached Eggs a moreish mix of eggs, grilled haloumi, eggplant, pistachio & green olive tapenade with a side of pita bread, Black Cuban Sandwich with mojo pulled pork and glazed leg ham, the Sisterfields Big Breakfast and Acai Berry Bowl. Match your meal with a chai or matcha latte.

Join the hype at Sisterfields and did into the beautiful brunch options which will surely bring sunshine into your plates and faces.

Biku makes a wonderful version of the traditional Indonesian dish made up of rice and an assortment of side dishes such as fried tofu, tempe, satay chicken, beef rendang, spicy eggs and vegetables. Mix everything well with their homemade chilli for the ultimate kick.

7. Paperboy - Kuta

Love this bright cafe with its Scandinavian vibing outdoor seating area. The tropical printed cushions are certainly a joy to lean on as you watch the crazy traffic in Bali whizz by. Paperboy offers vegetarian options as well.

For a teatime snack, we ordered the French Toast with Pitaya which came beautifully plated with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. We also had a Hot Latte and Kombucha (A fermented drink which is a great source of prebiotics. It tastes slightly alcoholic and lightly effervescent and is highly popular with) while we waited for the rain to stop.

Devoted to serving delicious fresh food to its customers, enjoy your time at Paperboy's outdoor terrace while you are in Kuta and leave feeling energized with positive energy.

8. Crumb & Coaster - Kuta

Located just opposite Paperboy, you may like to visit both cafes to try out different items on their menus. We had our mains at Crumb & Coaster before heading over to Paperboy for desserts and drinks. Love the rustic interiors of Crumb & Coaster which has a shabby chic charm.

Not just a pretty cafe, food is taken seriously at Crumb & Coaster. Ordered the BBQ 'Naughty' Pulled Pork Burger - signature 6 hours pulled pork served with sriracha aioli, homemade coleslaw and house fries. The fries were perfect, crispy without the oiliness. We also had the Mushroom Aglio Olio cooked with fresh herbs, sun dried tomatoes and parmesan but it was the garlic sourdough bread on the side that stole the show. It had a nice crispy crust and the bread was rubbed with good butter and fresh herbs. We would totally come back just for their garlic bread!
